The Archibald Prize Exhibition will only be shown at one venue in Victoria.
From October 6 until November 16, the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery will be hosting this iconic exhibition.
JF Archibald established this prize in 1921 to:
- encourage portraiture
- support artists and,
- to preserve the memory of iconic Australians.
Since then, some of Australia’s most prominent artists have entered, with previous winners including Del Kathryn Barton, Tim Storrier and Ben Quilty
The Archibald Prize Exhibition subjects feature people who are recognised and celebrated in their fields. They’ve included:
- Asher Keddie
- Hugo Weaving
- Barry Humphries, and
- Tara Moss
With the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery hosting this event, it’s a perfect opportunity to visit the gallery and spend a few days on the Mornington Peninsula.
And with ticket sales already open, it’s sure to be another sell out event.
